What’s in my makeup?

It’s a question we at Beautyblender have asked before. We started by breaking down all the yucky stuff you WON’T find in our product descriptions and why.

But today? Today, we’re channeling #GOODVIBESONLY, breaking down the science of makeup with some of the key ingredients you WILL find in Beautyblender products and why.

6 Awesome Ingredients You WILL Find in Beautyblender Product Descriptions

Botanical extracts

These powerful oils are derived from plants, which means they’re a natural way to soothe and brighten skin over time. We make Opal Essence™ Serum Primer with a blend of these potent little guys to hydrate your skin and give you a dewy glow without looking greasy. Bonus: The word “botanical” instantly transports you to a tropical climate, and everybody needs a little bit of that RN.

Hyaluronic acid

ICYMI, hyaluronic acid is, like, kind of a big deal.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance that lubricates your body’s joints and tissues. It also does cool stuff for your skin, including helping it heal and replenishing moisture levels. Finally, HA fights against pollution and aging, and nobody’s mad at that.

Natural oils

Your skin needs oil to survive and thrive, but not all oils are created equal. If you have naturally oily skin, there are some oils that are healthy for others — sesame oil, cocoa and shea butter — that will SRLSY clog your pores. That’s why if you do see “oil” in Beautyblender product descriptions, you can rest assured those oils will be vegan, sustainable and decidedly non-pore-clogging.

For example, our Solid Blendercleanser uses a super-concentrated blend of palm oils, aloe and coconut oil to lift stubborn stains from your blenders and brushes. It’s strong enough to kill 99.7% of germs, but mild enough to condition your most valuable makeup tools without damage.

Niacinamide

A B vitamin, niacinamide plays a key role in creating a healthy skin barrier. It smooths and strengthens the outer surface of your skin, which increases its resiliency and helps balance oil production.

Our Leveler™ Pore Minimizing Primer is formulated with niacinamide to help blur the appearance of redness, large pores and uneven texture. It comes in two shades — light-medium and tan-deep — to fit a variety of skin tones. And unlike other mattifying primers, the lightweight texture lets skin breathe, so you never feel suffocated.

Tetrapeptides

These nifty little amino acids have gained a reputation for reducing puffiness, especially around eyes. When you apply makeup that lists tetrapeptide in its product description, you’re working overtime to brighten and moisturize skin. That’s exactly why we use it in our BOUNCE Airbrush Liquid Whip Concealer. Every time you swipe on Bounce, you’re making your skin more supple and creating a more youthful appearance over time.

White birch extract

This natural wonder comes from the totally gorge white birch tree, and it helps with everything from skin repair to sun protection. White birch extract stimulates new collagen growth, smoothes fine lines and soothes sensitive skin, which is why we use it in both our Re-Dew Set & Refresh Spray and BOUNCE Liquid Foundation.
